How does the Virtual Fundamentals of Concealed Carry Class Work?
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Gunteachers Institute is offering the Fundamentals of Concealed Carry course in a virtual classroom format with the shooting portion to be in person on the date for which the class is scheduled. The shooting portion will take place in small group sizes at a range with appropriate social distancing measures in place.
Students will receive a link to the class online virtual content with all associated materials via email immediately upon registration. It is important to check your email as soon as you register for a class. Students will work through the cirriculum and then take the online exam anytime prior to their class date. Students will select their 2 hour shooting session for their class date via a provided range sign-up e-form. A certificate of completion will then be issued in person at the shooting portion. For additional information please click the contact tab.
How do I register for one of your courses?
Just go to the registration tab or icon of the desired class and fill out the information there. Be sure to fill in the information accurately so that we can complete your certificate. Register with your name as it appears on your driver’s license. Select only the course you want to register for and then submit your registration. You will then be directed to the payment page. We cannot hold your seat in class until you pay for your class in full. The payment screen allows you to pay by PayPal account, credit card, debit card or e-check from your checking account.
What are the time requirements for your classes?
The State of Ohio requires a minimum of 8 hrs. training to apply for a concealed carry permit. Training in the State of Michigan typically consists of only 8 hrs. We exceed the 8 hr. minimum requirement with relevant useful training.
All of us at Gun Teachers are or have been competitive shooters and/or hunters at one time or another, so we will also try to show you the recreational side of the shooting sports.Responsible gun ownership and shooting can provide lifelong enjoyment. We do not exclude or prejudge any student. We have trained students from ages 14-82, male and female, every race, religion and belief. We have had the pleasure of training many veterans, former state and federal law enforcement and even clergy from local churches. Come one, come all.
I have never even touched a firearm. Do you have any classes for complete beginners?
All of our classes (except for the advanced classes with prerequisites listed in the course descriptions) can accommodate beginners through advanced shooters that have been shooting for 30yrs. You progress at your own pace and will improve your skill set no matter where you are when you start with us. Our Basic Pistol class (taught on request) is a very simple starter course if needed, but most interested people opt for GTI Fundamentals of Concealed Carry as the introduction to defensive shooting.
Where are your courses held?
We have used various local meeting rooms for our courses including Perrysburg Township Trustees Hall, Bear Arms Tactical, Cousino's Steakhouse, Gander Mountain, Cabela’s, Elks Lodge of Maumee and other union halls, clubs, etc. The classroom location is always announced in a detailed email the week before the course begins. We use multiple ranges (outdoor and indoor) around the area. We also use an outdoor police department range in Lake Township off OH-795 near Metcalf Field. GunTeachers-South also uses the FOP range in Wood County.
Our instructors firmly believe that all law abiding citizens have the right to choose to defend themselves with a firearm. It is not for everyone. We do not get caught up in the politics surrounding firearms issues, but we do stress how to be a responsible and safe gun owner with everything we do.
Our block of legal instruction is second to none. We will teach you the right way to do things and give you things to think about so that you can make informed personal choices. We stress that a firearm is not a “weapon” rather it is a defensive tool of last resort.
My CCW Certificate Expired! Can you issue an updated certificate?
Your Concealed Carry Certificate is valid for 3 years from the date listed on the certificate. A re-issued certificate with a new date would indicate that you attended a class on that date when in fact you did not. This is both dishonest and potentially criminal therefore it goes against the integrity and character of GunTeachers Institute LLC and our Instructors. We urge anyone taking the Fundamentals of Concealed Carry Course to take steps to obtain their permit without delay.
